To
make sure that your computer is clean and free from unwanted
cookies, worms, trojans, adwares & spyware, the least
and the most basic things that you can do is to perform the
following three things. I myself have an experience of working
on internet for 3 years most of the hours a day, so i have
found many such things in the computer that needs the user's
attention and clean up. On this page, in the following article
i will be telling you what measures to take and what softwares
to use according to me. I have tried my best to make it easy
for everyone to understand including the beginners and those
who are not much into computers, and such issues.
Following are the few of the
things that i noticed as i went using the internet. |
- With a high speed cable internet connection,
the computer is immune to almost all the virus, trojans
and worms and other malicious softwares.

- The first place for the trojans, whenever
they enter the computer is "Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5".
most of the Trojan Downloaders, worm and other malicious
programs can be found in this folder. I got to know this
from the antivirus i used. It showed that path whenever
anything harmfull was detected in my computer.

- The cookies folder can also keep harmfull
adwares and high priority tracking cookies that can track
all your internet activities including your personal information
like credit card details and passwords.

| To
clean up your computer, just perform the following three simple
things. But "DONT FORGET TO READ THE IMPORTANT NOTE BELOW |
Step
one. |
Right
click on the task bar of your computer - click on properties
- then a window with a title "taskbar and start menu
properties" will appear on the screen, on that - click
on start menu tab - click on the customize button - then a
window with a title "customize start menu" will
appear, on that - click the button "clear list"
- then go to the other tab which says "Advanced",
on that - click the button "clear list" - Then click
on ok buttons on both the windows to close it. |

two. |
Click
on start menu - Right click on the internet explorer - click
on Internet Properties - then a window with a title "Internet
Properties" will appear on the screen, on that - simply
click the three buttons "Delete Cookies", "Delete
Files" and "Delete History". Click on the ok
and yes buttons on all the message boxes that it shows whenever
you click on those three buttons. |

three. |
- Click on start menu - click on run -
In the text feild type %temp% and click the button open.

- A window will open showing lot of files
of many formats. All those files are useless. Select all
the files by pressing "Ctrl + A" and delete
all those files by pressing "Shift + delete"
buttons.

- Then go back by simply clicking "backspace"
button on your keyboard.
|
- There you will find a folder "Temporary
Internet Files". Double click on it and go inside
that folder and there you will find one more folder "Content.IE5".
In that folder you will find many folders, all those folders
are useless and they might contain trojans or other malicious
programs. (Not all the time in all cases, though)

- There may be an index.dat file in the
folder "Content.IE5" or may be not.
|
- Select all the sub folders in the folder
"Content.IE5" but keep the index.dat file if
it exists in it and delete all those folders by clicking
"Shift + delete" keys.

| Now
you have cleared most of the unwanted things from your computer
that may even cause harm to your computer. You even freed
many space from your C Drive. However, read the following
note carefully. It has things that you might come across while
performing the above three steps. |

While
performing step three, you might not be able to delete some
of the files and folders. Simply neglect those files and folders
and delete rest of the files and folders. To oversome thise
"cannot delete file or folder" issue, read the following
note carefully. |

All
the above mentioned steps can be performed after you use your
computer and internet on it. But you perform above steps after
using the computer and internet on it, then sometimes you
may not be able to delete some of the unwanted files and folders
from that location mentioned above. This happens because some
of the add clients from the websites you just visited are
still active in your computer. So it is always better to perform
these steps in the beginning as soon as you start your computer.
That is, when you restart your computer or start the computer
another time.
When
it comes to which Anti-Virus to use, i personally use the
latest free version of AVG. Everyone must use firewall on
their computers to prevent unSSwanted access to your computer.
Firewalls also prevents unwanted packets to reach your computer.
I personally use the Zone Alarm free version. Which, according
to me is the best free firewall ever. These two softwares
prevents your computer from virus, trojans, unwanted access
and worms and other harmfull things from ruining your computer. |
